Dad's new pets......

It is two baby birds.

He was very excited, telling me to come and see the nest. The mother bird had built a nest on the longan tree, using twigs, plastic strips and raffia strings. He had seen two eggs, and was very pleased to know that both had been hatched.

The nest is quite low because the branches are ladened with fruits. I just hope there is no big storms or the dogs go and disturb the nest. The mother bird has been hovering around whole day, chirping very loudly.

Good luck, baby birdies!

Hat is getting chubbier and tubbier!!!!!

Sister S said it is because he has reached midlife and his metabolism slows down.

He is about 4 to 5 years old?

Anyway, he looks more handsome this way. And he is still dead scared of Mera.

The tupperware is a bit too small for Spencer. But she likes anything new, so she still went in and tried to have a snooze. I saw that she would get cramps that way, so I changed back the old box bed for her. She took it willingly.

Spencer: cat_aunty is crazy!!! She is becoming a traffic warden!!!! Or those ladies who give out parking tickets!!!!!!!

I am wearing the cotton gloves at night so that I will not chew my nails and cuticles to bits. The doctor saw my hands and thought I had eczema. No doubt I have been having a vacation, there are still things which worry me.
This is the fat ginger/ white tom next to the ICA building. He has been tipped. He was sleeping quite soundly despite the heavy foot traffic.

This is Shadow, the pet shop cat! I think he is about 8kg++ again. His owner has been trying to make him lose weight, but I think he is just big boned.

He is so soft, so clean and so cuddly. Despite his sumo size and appearance, he is very playful and gentle.

His paws are huge!!!!!!

I was stacking the canned food on the floor, he swiped at one of the stacks, and started to kick and toss the cans around!!!!  He was really having a good time. Then he played with the toy hanging from my bag, and with the camera strap.

Actually we played for a long time, because it was quiet, it was a hot afternoon, the usual lady was not in ( I think she finally went for her trip ), and the new girl had problem working out the bonus.

The vet staff told me sometimes he hunts, and brings back rodents or birds. They wonder how he did it.

By the way when I was taking ICA Cat's photos, Mr White Pants shouted at one of the ladies distributing pamphlets, and pointing at me. I ran away quickly.

This is the pretty calico near the post office. I am not sure who the carer/ feeder is. Either it is the paint shop, fruit stall or the tailor. She has been tipped.

I hope she stays safe. There are some horror stories about pest control at this block.

Oh dear, it is time of the year again......

And they have started to bring out the mooncakes too........

This is the friendly tom at the block up the road. He was due for neutering today, but the appointment was cancelled last minute. The CWS people said they need to sort out the payment for this month first.

He is still docile, but he bears signs of fights and neglect. Poor kitty.

Mera snoozing in the bush. Quite good camouflage actually.
Daiso cat wand: $2

Catnip in bag: $ 7.95 for 10g

Daiso Matatabi in bag: $2 for 3.5g

Bag: free

To make Uncle Mera happy: priceless

Blogger is very slow to upload photos today.

Anyway, I am back.......

The kitties are accounted for, Muzzy has been spotted, alive but very very wary.

It is even warmer here in SG, but much less mosquitoes, haha.

Seeing tonnes and tonnes of rambutans ripening on the trees by the road side, so abundant that no one bothers to steal them; you wouldn't want to spend $2/kg in SG ever again.

Durians, mangosteens and langsats are having bumper crops this year too. For some people. it is durians for breakfast, lunch and dinner, maybe even teabreaks and supper.

Food seemed nicer, maybe the ingredients are fresh and rich.

People seemed nicer, maybe the lifestyle is simpler and less hectic.

Maybe I am just getting older.

Typhoon hitting Taiwan today.

Hope all the kitties and their beans will be safe. Special protection to the homeless kitties.

At hometown now.

No photos, sorry....

The town seems more happening. The usual Carrefour, Giant, Food Junction. I even saw a Ajisen Ramen!

I was sitting next to a toddler, and she was getting grumpier as the time went by. She tried to grab everything and drop everything and crawl all over the car.

The parents did try very hard to distract her, so I perfectly understand.

Luckily she didn't throw up on me. Or cry very loudly.

Many mosquitoes here.

Dad said they have a bumper harvest of durians, mangoosteens and rambutans this year, people are practically giving the fruits away.

Sister J had fed the kitties this evening. Spencer was sleeping, and refused to get up. She said Hat, Calico and Yb were OK.

Mera was in the house before I left. He got his snacks and drugs.
Nom nom nom

He came just before 10am. It is cold and overcast, I hope he is at somewhere warm and dry.

He prefers to eat without the kittens jumping about around him.

They also have their own gangs.

Ginger: Evil Woman what did you do to my husband!!????

I didn't see Muzzy this morning. Maybe he was resting.

I replaced Calico and Bh2's collars, lets see how long they will last!

I will be out of town for a while. Sister J and Sister S will help to feed and take care of the kitties. I have left instructions for them, and all the phone numbers they may need. I will inform the kitties tomorrow.

Silly boy. He is still upset.

At least he knows to come into the house when it rains.

Kiki came in for some snacks and water, then he went to bed on top of my wardrobe.

At least it is a routine for him.

I think his parents are not feeding him again. He seemed quite sad today. I saw him at the garden a few times.

I gave him the usual biscuits, treats and sardines, then I put some catnip into a small bag. The bag came with the costume jewellry I bought a while back.

He liked it very much.

Tony Leung of the catsphere!!

Then he went to attack the neighbour's orchid! But the aunty had pulled out the plant, so Mera was trying very hard to look for it.

Then he played somemore.......I gave him scritches and massages.

Then he attacked the plant again. I kept telling him to stop, but Mera is stubborn. He won't stop until he has enough.

I regret to say, he flattened one of the plants on his way down.

Sorry, Makcik......

I guess today is as good a day as any, for Muzzy to get the snip-snip.

He had been so quiet throughout the night. I checked on him before bedtime, and he was just sitting there.

This morning when I checked on him again, he was still sitting there, not screaming meowing shredding newspapers or banging against the carrier. I didn't smell any pee or poo.

He was petrified, because his nose was so pink.

I checked the map, and decided to walk to the vet. Luckily Muzzy is not very heavy, and there were not many pedestrians. He only panicked when cars roared past. It took about 15 minutes.

The clinic is newly opened. And as expected, the guy looked blank when I told him I am sending a male stray for neutering, on behalf of CWS. Apparently the CWS lady from last night didn't inform the clinic! I told the guy I understand his concern. I can pay the full fees, I just want to get Muzzy done today. There was no patients in the clinic at that time. He tried to call various CWS ladies, and none of them seemed to know what is happening. I know he was also in a very difficult position. They may have several surgeries lined up already for the day, there is only one vet, and for someone to just walk in and expect a neutering on the same day, it may be a bit difficult to arrange.

Eventually the guy agreed to take in Muzzy, and I paid the subsidised fee as a deposit. If CWS doesn't call him back when I collect Muzzy, I will pay the balance.

I was rather worried that he didn't ask me to sign any consent form, or ask me to register. He just asked me if I would be the one collecting Muzzy this evening. I told him to call me if anything happens, anything he wants to know, even if Muzzy cannot pull through during the surgery. I also reminded him to tip the ear. It had happened before. I don't remember who. I collected the cat and then realised at home that the ear was not tipped. Ended up the cat had to go under the gas again.

I know Muzzy is just a stray. But I have been feeding him for a while now, and he is the father of Ginger's kids. Ginger seemed lost and anxious today actually. The silly kittens just played and wrestled as usual. I told Muzzy I will come back for him, definitely.

No phone calls from the vet throughout the day. I cleaned up the bathroom, just in case he sprayed on the walls last night.

It was threatening to rain, so I decided to go to the vet to collect Muzzy at 5pm. I would also be able to avoid the school kids at 6.30pm. Muzzy would not like the crowds and noises.

He was wide awake when I saw him. I made sure that it was really him, and that the ear was tipped. They said he didn't vomit, and I didn't smell any pee or poo. Maybe they had helped me to clean up the carrier. CWS did call, so I didn't have to pay extra. I saw the vet, a young, small sized guy. Another nurse saw me and brought out the carrier for me. I was very relieved that Muzzy is alive and seemed alert and lucid.

Luckily I brought a towel with me, because it started to rain. VERY heavily. We had to wait under the void deck for a while, but I still got wet. The towel I used to cover the carrier.

I couldn't release him when we reached home, because it was still raining so heavily. Calico and Yb crowded around to see him. I left Muzzy outside on the corridor. He didn't scream or struggle. He just sat there quietly.

He really is the calmest cat in captivity I know.

He must be feeling well, because he sprayed in the cage. Twice.

Hat was so upset by the smell, and refused to eat his dinner. He went to sleep with a pout.

Spencer was edgy for a while, then she went to sleep too.

Muzzy was released at 7.15pm. He ran straight into the power station. It should be a happy reunion for all, but I bet he smells different, and Ginger may give him a few slaps.

I cleaned up the outside, and the carrier. I have to return it to the CWS lady.

Kiki came after that. He sniffed around a bit, but didn't seem to suspect anything.

I am very glad that this pair has been neutered. Hopefully it will help to control the cat population, unless some idiots dump more cats on us again!!

We will do the 4 kittens when the time comes.

Furry fruits.
Mackerel tabby next to the chui kueh stall. I think someone is taking care of her. But not tipped though.

Tiong Bahru chui kueh, 4 for $1.10.

A ginger cat from one of the blocks at Kim Keat. He was watching the pigeons feeding.

Was feeling quite agitated and worried today, so I went to the temples.

I did feel better afterwards.

Someone from CWS had neutered and released Ginger. She had also helped me to trap Muzzy, and arranged for Muzzy's neutering tomorrow.

Muzzy is in the bathroom now. Not much noises from him, but I think he had poo-ed.

Spencer knows he is there. Mera, Hat and Kiki didn't seem to notice.

Kiki has been sleeping a lot, since the medications.

It is raining now......bleh.

Hat is already all settled in on the sofa, Spencer is surprisingly awake. I wonder of she is waiting for Mera.

Photos from MingPaoDaily and ZhaoBao.com

Sigh....lets hope they will always be happy bah.

WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

This evening I saw the Uncle talking to two ladies, with much gesturing and for a long time. I thought he was in some trouble with the cats, so I went to see.

He beckoned me over, and explained that the two ladies were here to see about the cat poo problem at his block.

Apparently at the second floor, the Indian family complained to the town council that the Malay neighbour's cat poo-ed and pee-ed outside their house. The Malay family does have a cat ( and a new baby ), but she claimed the cat doesn't go out and the poo-ing were done by the downstairs cats. The downstairs cats come up to find trouble with her cat, and her cat had been neutered.

Basically the two ladies ( which I gathered by now are from CWS ) were here to investigate and to mediate. They had cleaned up the corridor with vinegar, sprinkled mothballs and given advice to both parties.

If the problem still persists after 2 weeks, the pest control will come in and round up all the downstairs cats; young and old, tipped and untipped.

I was so so upset when I heard about it.

I told the two ladies I will do anything I can to help resolve this issue, and to protect the cats. We exchanged contacts, and worked out what each would do.

I will inform Kiki's owner and Mera's parents about this, so that they will keep the cats indoors, for at least the next FOUR weeks.

As for the other kitties, the CWS ladies suggested I put the Gingerbabies up for adoption first. And to keep an close eye on all of them. Anyone missing, I will have to alert them so that we will start searching and calling. If I see any pest control people doing anything to the kitties, I must take pictures as evidence, and to alert CWS and the press.

It has been peaceful for the last few years and we have been relatively lucky. I really pray that nothing will come to harms to all the kitties. I really don't know what I will do if the worst really happens.
